Tito, Vic and Joey are all set to rock the silverscreen once again as they revive their hit TV sitcom( aired on IBC 13 network from 1978 to 1987) in a movie entitled Iskul Bukol: 20 Years After (Adventures of Vic Ungasis and the Escalera Brothers).

TV Sitcom (1978 to 1987)

The show centered on the following original casts in Wanbol University

• Tito Escalera (Tito Sotto) – One half of the Escalera brothers, who plots harebrained schemes in every episode.
• Joey Escalera (Joey De Leon) – The other Escalera sibling. Miss Tapia has a crush on him.
• Vic Ungasis (Vic Sotto) – the good-looking and smart teacher’s pet with a chick-magnet personality. The Escaleras often pick on him during class.
• Miss Tapia (Mely Tagasa) – Wanbol University’s resident professor who often gets on the Escalera brothers’ nerves.
• Mang Temi (Bing Angeles) – the dark-complexioned operator of the university’s cafeteria. His name is a play on the Filipino word “itim” (black or dark), rearranged the 70’s Filipino way, “Tim-i” or “Tem-i,” in the same manner as words in the vernacular are rearranged. Example: bath = ligo = go-li.
• Tonette Macho (Anthony Roquel) – the gay student who plays as bestfriend of the fairest girl in class. He is also the nemesis of the Escalera Brothers.
• Inang (Dely Atay-Atayan) – Vic’s mother from the town of Tiaong, Quezon. Famous for her term of endearment “Bunsooyy!” whenever addressing Vic. The root word “bunso” is Tagalog for youngest child.
• Joey Anson (Joey Albert) – a student whom Vic likes.
• Redford White (Redford) – Mang Temi’s houseboy

The Movie

Twenty years after, aside from being an excellent history professor at the Wangbol University, Vic Ungasis (Vic Sotto) has also ventured into the field of Archaeology. His discovery of Kali of Humabon has opened a handful of mystery. In his quest to find another war relic the Kampilan of Lapu-Lapu which apparently is in the hands of Shimata (Jacky Woo, hongkong action star), a wealthy Japanese national who is more interested in the “peseta” (a bracket which is part of the Kampilan) one of the remaining 30 pieces of Judas’s silver which apparently gives immortality to anyone who possesses it.

When Vic wet to Cambodia for a speaking engagement, he discovered the secrets behind all the mysteries with the help of Samnang (Ryan Agoncillo)and Woog (Robert Villar-sidekick of Marian Rivera in Dyesebel).

Members of the original cast, aside from Tito, Vic and Joey are still included in the movie like Bibeth Orteza, Jimmy Santos, Mely Tagasa as the strict teacher Ms. Tapia, Richie D’ Horsie as himself, Anthony Roquel as the former gay Tonet Macho and Mary Massab.

The film also stars Carlene Aguilar, Oyo Sotto, Gian Sotto, Keempee de Leon, Francine Prieto, Krista Ranillo, Pauleen Luna and Nicole Uysiuseng.

The megastar Sharon Cuneta is also making a special appearance as Tito and Joey’s younger sister, Sharon Escalera.

“Iskul Bukol: 20 Years After” is a co-production of OctoArts Films, M-Zet Films and APT Entertainment and is an official entry to the 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival.
