Philippine Former President Corazon Aquino , died after a 16-month battle against colon cancer. She was a heroine of the 1986 “people power” revolution.

Cory Aquino, 76-year-old was diagnosed with the disease in March last year and had undergone chemotherapy and surgery. She was admitted to hospital in June after a loss of appetite.

“Our mother peacefully passed away at 3:18 a.m. (1918 GMT Friday) of cardio-respiratory arrest,” her son, Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., said on national television.

The remains of Cory Aquino at La Salle Greenhills will be open to public. It will start today August 1, 2009 at 5:00 pm up to 4:00 am Tomorrow.

Daniel Radcliffe, also known as Harry Potter, is the world’s richest star under the age of 21. Not only is he the wealthiest teenager in the U.K., but on this year’s Forbes list of top young earners, he beat Miley Cyrus to gain the title of ” Hollywood’s Most Valuable Young Star.” And at age 20, with three more Harry Potter films before the franchise ends – including this week’s “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” – probably he might stay there for a while.

Radcliffe had appeared in only one theatrical film “The Tailor of Panama” with Pierce Brosnan and one TV movie “David Copperfield” before wearing Harry’s round glasses and putting the forehead lightning bolt. During Annabelle’s guesting on the 100th episode of morning show “Ruffa and Ai” Monday, Annabelle gave the young actor a go-signal to pursue her only daughter.

John Lloyd proved already his sincerity and supposed feelings for Ruffa during their dinner at the Gutierrezes’ residence two weeks ago.

“Tinanong ko si John Lloyd sa bahay namin noong dinner, lumabas ang iba pang mga artista, ‘Bakit hindi ka manligaw sa mga artista na yan? Maganda lahat iyan.’ Tawa lang siya ng tawa. Ibig sabhin  gusto niya talaga si Ruffa. Sana huwag mong lokohin si Ruffa. Gusto mo talaga siya, okay lang,” Annabelle said.

The frank Annabelle was also impressed by the young actor. She praised John Lloyd’s courage, saying that, despite her strong objection, he continuously pursues the “Ruffa and Ai” host.
“Napakatapang mong ligawan si Ruffa kaya ako bilib sa iyo. Maski ayoko sa iyo, ang kulit kulit mo kay Ruffa,” she said.

There was another reason that prompted Rama to change her mind. She disclosed that it was hard for her to ignore the “twinkle” in both Ruffa and John Lloyd’s eyes when they were together.

“Ruffa, kaya ako nag-surrender sa iyo, nakikita ko ang mata mo at mata ni John Lloyd, nag-twi-twinkle twinkle,” she said.

She also refuse the “we’re-just-friends” public declaration of the two, predicting that their friendship will eventually lead to something more.

Annabelle gave her go-signal under one condition though – for John Lloyd not to hurt her daughter.

The talent manager also stated that she will no longer interfere with the decisions of her 35-year-old daughter.

“Kung saan ka masaya, bahala ka sa buhay mo. Nagsawa na ako sa kaka-advice sa iyo. Pati mga apo ko nagagalit na din sa akin. Kung ano man ang pinili mong landas konting ingat lang para di ka madapa,” she added.

Edna Parker was recognized by Guinness World Records as the oldest person in the world since 2007 after the death of Yone Minagawa of Japan, who is 4 months older than her.

Life Story

Parker was born in Morgan County, Indiana, and raised eating a typical farm diet of meat and starch. She attended Franklin High School, then took classes at Franklin College to obtain a teaching certificate. She got married on April 12, 1913 with her next door neighbor Earl Parker. They were blessed with two sons Clifford and Earl Jr., both of whom she outlived. Her husband died in 1939 of a heart attack. As of April 2008, she had five grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great-grandchildren. Her two sisters also are deceased; Georgia lived to be 99, while her sister Opal was 88 when she died.

Following the death of her husband at the age of 45, Parker lived alone on a farm on Blueridge Road until the age of 100. She was then moved into a son’s home and later to the Heritage House Convalescent Center in shelbyville, a retirement community. Coincidentally, she met 7-foot-7 Sandy Allen in the nursing home, whom Guinness recognized as the world’s tallest woman until her death in August.

Final years

Parker enjoyed reading and reciting poetry, especially the works of James Whitcomb Riley. She read the newspaper every day, enjoyed cards from well-wishers, and often sent autographs to people asking for them. Last 2007, she received a letter from President George W. Bush on her 114th birthday, who thanked her for “sharing her wisdom and experiences” with younger generations. Also at that time, she was given the key to the city of Shelbyville from the Mayor, and was visited by the state Governor and Senator.

She celebrated her 115th birthday this year with a 115 multicolored balloons. She was one of only twenty-one people validated to have reached 115 years of age.
